Tradition, Terroir & Exclusivity in Every Bottle

HVAR’S HERITAGE IN EVERY GLASS

Over 2,400 Years of Winemaking Tradition

Winemaking on Hvar dates back more than 2,400 years, tracing to Greek settlers who introduced viticulture in the 4th century BC. Today, Hvar remains one of the world’s oldest wine-producing regions. Abundant sunshine—2,726 hours per year—and refreshing breezes at higher elevations create ideal conditions for grape cultivation. This time-honored legacy lives on in every bottle of Vina M Hvar, celebrating both the island’s rich history and our modern dedication to organic, low-intervention methods.

SPONTANEOUS FERMENTATION

A Natural Approach to Authentic Flavor

Short Intro Paragraph:
At Vina M Hvar, we embrace spontaneous fermentation—relying on the native yeasts present on our grapes and in our winery environment. This technique adds depth and complexity while honoring the true character of our vineyard. It’s a sustainable, minimally intrusive method that showcases Hvar’s distinctive terroir.

Key Highlights (Condensed):
1. Native Yeasts
2. Terroir Expression
3. Minimal Intervention

Steep Slopes, Handcrafted Perfection

Situated beneath the impressive summit of St. Nicholas, our vineyard in Sv. Nedelja exemplifies a harmonious blend of natural beauty and diligent craftsmanship. The notably steep terrain and rocky soil make machinery use virtually impossible, so each vine is tended entirely by hand.

    Soil Composition
A 20-centimeter layer of stones sits atop organic matter, allowing vine roots to extend nearly 80 centimeters below the surface. This setup ensures consistent moisture and protection from direct sunlight, resulting in grapes of remarkable depth and aromatic intensity.

    Low Yield, High Quality
We strictly limit yields to 0.5 kg (500 g) per vine, focusing on exceptional flavor development rather than volume. The outcome: a richly concentrated wine that truly captures the essence of Hvar.
